Perfect getaway

Its a quaint little house, the owner Lisa was very easy to reach before and during our stay which is always very appreciated. The house is right on the ocean so hearing the sound of the waves was soothing and just what we wanted. Location was great for my husband to take off each morning for his scuba diving. If you are into kayaking the spot from where different tour groups take kayaks into the water and then jump in to snorkel is right next to the house. Within walking distance there is beach access and Turtle town is one of them.

We spent 6 nights at this home and it was perfect. Kitchen is well equipped, overall a very cozy set up for two.

Highly recommend it and it is meant for two persons more than that would be a little crowded.

The Mākena house was absolutely beautiful! The views never got old, the house had everything we needed and more and the area was wonderful for exploring. We can’t wait to come back!

We rarely spend much time in our vacation rentals (other than sleeping), but we found it hard to leave here each morning & whenever we stopped back in. Breakfast on the lanai, lunch down in the shade of the patio, all while listening to the crashing of waves, was perfect. The owners have done everything possible to make it comfortable and convenient for guests. The outdoor shower was perfect before coming in from the beach. We went to nearby Maluaka Beach frequently. It was pretty calm even though the high surf warning while we were there made many beaches unsafe. There are chairs, an umbrella, a great cooler, snorkel gear, etc. We used the grill but never the hot tub as it was very hot when we were there.

Our only small issue has been taken care of - the main part of the house gets quite hot in the afternoon (we quickly learned to keep the shades down when we were gone and open up to the breezes when we returned). However, the owners were installing another A/C unit the day we left (there is already one in the bedroom). That should make it quick to cool off in the evenings upon your return.

​

Next time we return to Maui, this will be the first property I will check.

Incredible property and location!

Mahalo Lisa! This trip was our first time using VRBO and it could not have been any better. Lisa was extremely helpful answering all of our questions along the way. Somehow the pictures don’t do the amazing view justice.

​

We were blown away when we first arrived and realized our dream had become reality. The location was perfect, as this seems to be on the quiet side of town, but very close to great restaurants and shopping. I had mistakenly thought this may be a busy street, but it was very quiet with only a few cars passing by to go to the small beach just up the street. The snorkeling all around the house was great, but the sea turtles really blew us away. The house had everything you needed and more.

We had coffee from the balcony everyday and relaxed on the lounge chairs after snorkeling. We had debated staying at a resort and then debated partial ocean view, ocean view, etc.. Why did we even consider that when we had the option to stay on the water at this house? The memories of this house will last a lifetime for us. We would jump at the chance to return to this amazing house/location.

Best of luck in your search for a rental, but if you’ve read this far and you’re a naturally skeptical person like me, I’d say go for it. You won’t be disappointed!

Beautiful Makena

Makena Bay House is an ideal spot to relax, enjoy a morning coffee on the lanai or watch a stunning Hawaii sunset. The setting provides privacy which makes you feel like your own oasis. Yet, only a short distance is a cove where you can snorkel with turtles or join a kayak tour or paddle board. A 5 minute stroll is a beautiful sandy beach. This location is convienant to several resturants, golf courses and shopping. We will return! aloha

Unbelievable. Such a fantastic location. Everything was incredible from the views to the location to the layout of the home. It truly felt like home during our stay. If the house was for sale I’d buy it... we will be back soon!
